Cancer and Anxiety – How To Use Essential Oils To Help

Not only does cancer attack our bodies, it can also attack our emotions (just another reason to HATE cancer). I remember when Jessica was sick she would often have sleepless nights and bouts of anxiety about all she was going through. It was during that time that I first met Jasmine (perfectly nicknamed “Healthy Jasmine”). She would visit Jessica and always leave a few oils behind. Jasmine taught Jessica all about the healing properties of essential oils, and in turn Jessica would teach me! Did you know, according to a 2008 study, that an aromatherapy hand massage using a blend of frankincense, lavender, and bergamot improved anxiety, depression, and pain in people with terminal cancer?

Below are a few more suggestions from my friend, and oil expert, Healthy Jasmine!

Our brain is like a highway. We have lots of cars going in different directions. And our cars communicate to different parts of our brain and send signals throughout our bodies. Sometimes we get traffic jams in our brains and sometimes we get our signals crossed and sometimes the cars make wrong turns.

This is known as emotions. And the part of our brain that is affected by our sense of smell is the command center for our emotions, survival instincts, and also triggers memory.

So when we smell something, our first response is the emotional response. And this can change our mood. Change our behavior, and even change how we feel, think, and focus.

Diffusing essential oils (EOs) has a profound effect on your mood, emotions and the outcomes you are trying to achieve. EOs are chemicals as are emotions and why when the oils hits your limbic system, the oils changes your neurochemistry. This is the power of aromatherapy. This is a wonderful positive effect of aromatherapy.

You can change the emotion in your environment.

You can:

  • Increase focus and concentration.
  • Improve your sleep.
  • Uplift sad and low feelings.
  • Help soothe and console grief.
  • Increase happiness, passion and many more.

Diffusing oils is safe and inexpensive way to support the body, physically, mentally and emotionally. Most diffusers cover about a 500 sq foot space and adding up to 5-10 drops of your favorite oils or blends of oils can really be a wonderful way to feel calm and less stressed in your own home.
